The Casserole

Comic Chamber Opera in a Prologue and One Scene
(c. 25')

Music by: Evan L. Snyder

Libretto by: Hannah Hayden

Two college buddies, Kevin and Anna, search through Kevin’s recently deceased grandmother’s kitchen to try to find her special casserole recipe. Kevin has been dreaming of it every night and longs for the chance to taste it one last time. Unable to find the recipe anywhere, the duo turn to a Reddit search for a similar recipe, which inadvertently leads them to a spell for necromancy. When three strange old ladies appear with a fervid desire to break bread with them, and perhaps unleash a little chaos on the mortal realm, things start to get a bit gooey.

Commissioned for as a part of Guildhall’s Opera Makers Programme, in association with the Royal Opera House.
